One United Lancaster, an independent digital media outlet sponsored by United Way of Lancaster County, will enter 2025 under new leadership.

Brian McCloud has been named One United Lancaster’s program manager, effective as of the beginning of January, United Way of Lancaster County President & CEO Kate Zimmerman announced Friday. In that role, he will oversee the publication’s coverage, generate content and supervise other contributors.

McCloud joined United Way of Lancaster County earlier this year as impact coordinator. A proud Lancaster native and graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Theater from Temple University in 2024.

McCloud succeeds Tim Stuhldreher, One United Lancaster’s editor since September 2020.

As part of the shift to new leadership, One United Lancaster’s business model and scope of coverage is changing. It will be employing interns from local educational institutions and will be taking a more collaborative approach to producing content, including soliciting contributions from partner nonprofits. It will be focusing its reporting on its core topic: Lancaster County’s nonprofit community.

“Tim has single-handedly grown this publication into an award winning and trusted news source in our community,” said Maddie Seiler, United Way of Lancaster County Vice President of Marketing & Communications.

“As we look to the future, I am energized with the addition of Brian McCloud to the team. His unique experience and skillset will bring a new perspective to reporting for One United Lancaster. Rest assured, we will continue our thorough and unbiased coverage of community events, happenings, and nonprofit impact in Lancaster County.”

“I am excited to jump into this position and lead One United Lancaster,” McCloud said. “I am grateful for the chance to use my skillset to advance my journalistic career. Thank you, Tim Stuhldreher, for educating me on everything I need to know and preparing me for success. Thank you, Kate Zimmerman, Maddie Seiler and (Vice President of Impact) Joel Janisewski for this opportunity.”

After wrapping up as editor this year, Stuhldreher is embarking on a sabbatical to work on some personal projects. He will remain in the Lancaster area.

“It has been a privilege and a career highlight to help launch this innovative publication and bring more attention to the critical work of local nonprofits,” Stuhldreher said. “I look forward to One United Lancaster’s bright future under Brian’s leadership.”

“As any faithful reader of OUL knows, Tim has covered Lancaster County with care, depth and integrity during his tenure,” United Way of Lancaster County President and CEO Kate Zimmerman said. “He has been an important voice in the news ecosystem. Thank you for your service, Tim!”
