Help the Fight, a local nonprofit dedicated to assisting breast cancer patients, is getting ready for its 15th annual benefit banquet and auction this fall.
The event is scheduled for 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Spooky Nook Sports, 75 Champ Blvd., in East Hempfield Township.

The reservation deadline is Sept. 14.
Help the Fight was founded by a Mountville couple, Lynda and David Charles. Since its inception, it has raised more than $1.2 million for breast cancer patients, including $90,000 from the 2023 banquet and auction. The money goes toward medical bills and living expenses.
“We’ve never turned anyone away,” Lynda Charles told One United Lancaster last year.
The banquet takes place during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women, according to Breastcancer.org, and 85% of diagnoses occur in women with no family history of the disease.
