Lancaster city is inviting community members to nominate individuals for its annual Hispanic Community Achievement Award.
Nominees should be people who have made “significant contributions” to Lancaster’s Hispanic community, the city said. Nomination forms are available online in English and Spanish; the deadline is Sept. 18.
Winners will be honored at Lancaster’s Hispanic Heritage Month festival, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5, at Binns Park and Ewell Plaza. The celebration takes place during Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.
Last year’s honoree was Miriam Ortega Brown, the founder of the Society on Latino Affairs at Millersville University and co-founder of the West Lancaster Jewels neighborhood group in Lancaster.
