The Department of Health will make its online "Your Turn" Covid-19 vaccine tool available in Spanish within a few days, a spokesman said Wednesday.

The Spanish version should be up and running later this week or early next week, Barry Ciccocioppo said.

A couple of other languages will be available, too, he said. The department did not immediately say which ones.

The "Your Turn" tool lets users check their eligibility for the Covid-19 vaccine based on Pennsylvania's current phase. Those who are eligible are directed to nearby providers where they can make an appointment; those who are not yet eligible can sign up to be notified when they are.

The English-language version has been available since early February. It has taken a little extra time to develop the non-English versions and make sure they worked properly, Ciccocioppo said.

Advocates for the Latino community have complained that the Department of Health website is difficult to use for people who lack English proficiency. Ciccocioppo noted the site, like other state websites, has a "translate" button that converts information into more than 100 languages and dialects.
