Lancaster’s downtown core will host the city’s rescheduled Celebrate Lancaster event on Friday.

Festivities are scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., with a slate that includes food trucks, beer gardens, live performances and dance parties. For more details, visit the Celebrate Lancaster page on VisitLancasterCity.com.

The theme is “Honoring Umoja,” a Swahili word that means unity or the spirit of community.

During Celebrate Lancaster, the first two blocks of North Queen Street are turned into a pedestrian mall, closed to vehicle traffic.

City police will commence street closures at 7 a.m. Friday. North Queen Street will close from Penn Square to the intersection with Chestnut Street, as will nearby segments of Grant and Market streets and William Henry Place. At 11 a.m., police will close Orange Street around the intersection with North Queen Street.

Celebrate Lancaster 2023 was originally scheduled for June 16, but was canceled that day due to forecasts of heavy storms.
