Nelson M. Polite Jr.
Nelson M. Polite Jr. is president of the African American Historical Society of South Central Pennsylvania. A retired Pennsylvania state employee, he is a board member at LancasterHistory.org and serves on the Lancaster City Planning Commission. His father, Nelson M. Polite Sr. was a noted local civil rights leader and City Council president. His grandfather, Abraham L. Polite Sr., was a founding member of Crispus Attucks Community Center and the last president of Lancaster's Negro Civic League, which was succeeded by the Lancaster branch of the NAACP.
