VITA seeks volunteers for tax preparation

United Way of Lancaster County is seeking volunteers to learn tax preparation and provide service in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program in 2024.

Volunteers do not need previous experience or expertise. VITA provides training and certification. The organization is hoping to complete 11,000 tax returns in the upcoming season.

VITA provides free tax preparation for filers making $60,000 or less. In 2023, VITA completed more than 8,800 returns, saving clients $2.4 million in fees and securing them roughly $9 million in refunds.
