
The wheels were spinning, and spirits were high at Greenfield Lancaster as the United Way of Lancaster County hosted its 2025 Trike Race, drawing 34 enthusiastic teams for an afternoon of fast-paced fun and fundraising. The annual event raised $24,400 to support the organization’s efforts to improve education, economic mobility, and health for residents across the county.
Since 1999 Trike Race has been a key fundraiser in supporting the organization's work in the community. During the competition, teams of five, race on adult tricycles in a tournament-style bracket for a chance to take home the Trike Race trophy.
The race, a local favorite known for its blend of friendly rivalry and community engagement, attracted a diverse mix of teams from area businesses and nonprofits. Companies including; Armstrong World Industries, Benchmark Construction, Brown Plus, Catherine Hershey Schools for Early Learning, Demme Learning, Design Data, Enterprise Mobility, Ephrata National Bank, Everence Financial / Everence Federal Credit Union, Founders Market, Fulton Bank (3 teams), High Construction, Lancaster Chamber of Commerce, Lancaster City Alliance, Lancaster Parking Authority (2 teams), Members 1st, Mid Penn Bank, Northwest Bank, Paul Davis, Penn State Health, PNC, Rhoads Energy, RKL, SOMAT Company (2 teams), Trout CPA, Union Community Care, Univest Bank, Water Street Mission, WGAL, and YMCA of the Roses competed in the event, each bringing their own energy and creativity to the track.
Fulton Bank alone fielded three teams, while other repeat participants such as the Lancaster Parking Authority and SOMAT Company returned to defend their titles and raise awareness for a good cause. Newcomers and returning racers alike were cheered on by a lively crowd, energized by music from DJ Eddie and food from local favorites including Extra Rice, Sweet & Salty Rolled Ice Cream, and Hot Box BBQ.
The event also benefited from strong community sponsorship. Key supporters included Union Community Care, WGAL, Northwest Bank, Penn State Health, Design Data, Univest Financial Corp, Founders Market & Co., The Common Wheel, Greenfield, and Shumaker. Their contributions helped make the race not only a fun outing but also a meaningful driver of local impact.
WGAL meteorologist, Ryan Argenti served as the day’s emcee, keeping the crowd entertained with his signature charisma and helping shine a spotlight on the importance of community collaboration.
Rhoads Energy claimed the top spot for the second year in a row, powering their way to first place with speed and determination. Univest Bank followed closely behind to secure second place, while High rounded out the podium with a strong third-place finish. Their spirited performances added an extra layer of excitement to the event and showcased the competitive camaraderie that defines the Trike Race each year.
“On the surface, this race looks like a competition, but in practice it's a celebration of what's possible when we come together as a community,” said Kristy Gismot, VP of Resource Development at United Way of Lancaster County. “We’re grateful to every team, sponsor, and attendee who helped make this year’s Trike Race a success. Together, we’re powering positive change across Lancaster County.”
