Representatives at Lunch & Learn will offer an overview of the organization’s work. The presentation includes access to “Storm Encounter,” an immersive mobile disaster simulator.

In 2022, Mennonite Disaster Service organized more than 7,000 volunteers, who participated in more than 200 cleanups and 400 restorations and rebuilt more than 90 homes. Damage from natural disasters in the U.S. that year exceeded $165 billion, with 18 individual disasters each causing $1 billion or more in damage and at least 474 deaths.

A joint venture of Meals on Wheels and United Way of Lancaster County, the “Lunch & Learn” series brings together community members to learn about nonprofit initiatives and network over lunch. Proceeds are split divided equally among the two organizing entities and the guest nonprofit, with each receiving a third.

January’s menu will feature chicken in creamy mushroom sauce with stuffing and green beans.
