The new 43,000-square-foot Lancaster Public Library, located in the 100 block of North Queen Street in Ewell Plaza, is taking shape as employees prepare to open toward the end of May.

“It’s exciting that we are almost ready to open this library for the community,” said Executive Director Lissa Holland.

“It is very different from our 70-year-old building on Duke Street, in that it is very flexible,” Holland said.

“We have few solid walls. Even our furniture is going to be able to be rolled back and forth easily.”

The library recently held a Parade of Books to give children and families an opportunity to transport a few books from their old location on Duke Street to the new location.
