More than 80 women are taking part in Lancaster-Lebanon Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build Week in Columbia.

The volunteer event, one of many Women Build events nationwide, began Wednesday. Habitat is building four new homes in Columbia for low- to moderate-income households.

“We have women here of all skill levels,” said Amy Balestier, Director of Development and Communications with Lancaster Lebanon Habitat for Humanity.

“One of the things we say for Habitat volunteers is that you do not need to have experience. We will train you.”

“We all wanted to help people in our community, and it’s a great team building experience”, said volunteer Cecile Frey.

“You have a group of people coming together who want to do good in our community,” Balestier said.

The Women Build Week in Columbia wraps up on Saturday. It follows a June Women Build event held by Lancaster-Lebanon Habitat for Humanity on Chestnut Street in Lebanon.
