Union Community Care opens dental clinic at Lancaster Downtown location

Union Community Care announced this week that it has added dental services at its downtown Lancaster location, 304 N. Water St.

The federally qualified health center converted administrative offices on the building’s second floor into a state-of-the-art dental clinic with eight patient bays, including three pediatric ones.

It can accommodate up to 10,000 patient visits a year, spokeswoman Nicole Specht said. Services include routine cleanings, exams, X-rays, sealants, fillings, extractions and root canals.

The staff includes three dentists, one of whom specializes in pediatric dentistry; plus four dental assistants and three hygienists. All are new hires, Specht said.

Last year, in its American Rescue Plan Act grant application to Lancaster, Union Community Care estimated the project budget at $1.66 million.

The clinic adds to the medical care, mental health care and support services available at 304 N. Water St., providing one-stop “360-degree” care, Union Community Care said.

“We’re thrilled to open more doors to dental care that will directly address the dental access barriers and inequality within Lancaster,” Alisa Jones, the clinic’s president & CEO, said in a statement.

The organization will continue to offer dental services at its existing clinic at 625 S. Duke St., its SouthEast Lancaster location. Patients can receive care there or at the downtown location, as they choose.
