Multiple Lancaster County nonprofits will host Narcan giveaways on Thursday, Sept. 26, as part of a growing nationwide initiative.
“Save a Life Day East” is a distribution event encompassing more than 300 counties in 30 states. Last year, organizers disbursed more than 45,000 Narcan doses.
Narcan is a brand name for naloxone, a medication that can be used in emergencies to reverse opioid overdoses. It is packaged as a nasal spray, making it easy to administer.
“Anyone can carry naloxone, give it to someone experiencing an overdose, and potentially save a life,” the CDC says.
