- Lancaster man runs reminder service for street sweeping in city: Phil Thompson, who moved to Lancaster from Chicago, developed Beat the Sweep, a free app that reminds Lancaster residents of upcoming street sweepings to avoid tickets. According to Thompson, street sweeping occurs more frequently in Lancaster than Chicago which has led to difficulties in remembering to move his car. He developed Beat the Sweep to try to make sense of the complicated system of routes Lancaster uses for sweeping. Street sweeping tickets are the most common tickets issued in Lancaster.
