• 5,000 gallons of water flowed through Lancaster Public Library: Saturday night, a blocked sewer pipe in the Lancaster Public Library’s, Lancaster City branch, caused around 5,000 gallons of water to flood the building’s first floor, library officials say. According to Leigh Kaliss, the library’s director of communications, many fixtures on the first floor will have to be replaced, including the flooring and shelving. The library expects to reopen on Saturday, with limited library services returning next Monday. (Source: LNP)
• After blocking of Trump funding cuts, Church World Service hopeful to restart services: A federal judge blocked Trump’s executive order blocking refugees from being admitted to the U.S. on Tuesday, while a related court case is being argued. Church World Service, a non-profit which helps settle refugees in Lancaster County, is hopeful about the news. However, they acknowledge that this is not the end of the fight. Trump’s order affected many refugees which had already come to the U.S., whom were being helped by CWS in settling in the country. (Source: LNP)
• Harrisburg apartment tower working to restore tenants’ hot water: Harmony Tower, a high-rise apartment building on 2nd Street in Harrisburg, has had problems with hot water for its tenants since before Thanksgiving. Harrisburg Mayor Wanda Williams is aware of the problem. On Tuesday, the building’s management placed notices on tenants’ doors saying that work is being done to fix the building’s hot water. While improvements have been made, the water is still not up to code. (Source: ABC 27)
• Pennsylvania State University in York to potentially close: Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) is reviewing multiple satellite campuses across the state to potentially close, including the campus in York. While the larger campuses, including the Harrisburg campus, are safe, 12 smaller campuses are being reviewed. If the York campus does close, Penn State President Neeli Bendapudi says that it will not do so until the 2026-2027 school year, at which point all associate degree students will have completed their studies and bachelor’s degree students will be able to move to another campus.
