• 19 Native American children from Carlisle Indian School to be disinterred: The U.S. Army plans to repatriate the remains of 19 Native American children who were sent to the Carlisle Indian School. The school operated from 1879 to 1918, and over its run nearly 200 students died. The school today is the U.S. Army War College. One of the remains to be returned to his family is that of Wallace Perryman of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.  (Source: WGAL) 

I-83 bridge project increases uncertainty for ‘Tent City’ residents: Residents in a homeless encampment along Front Street in Harrisburg are increasingly on edge as the construction process of a new bridge across the Susquehanna River begins. A core drilling was carried out near the camp to assess the ground in preparation for the construction. While shelters are available, many do not allow pets or would disallow certain kinds of possessions. The Director of Communications for the City of Harrisburg has said that she is looking into acquiring land for the encampment to move to. (Source: WGAL) 

• Work to begin on Hampton Inn in Colombia: Don and Becky Murphy are preparing to convert an old potato chip factory into an 80-room hotel in downtown Colombia. The Murphys are known for renovating other Colombia properties and are the owners of Hinkle’s Restaurant. The hotel, which will open as a Hampton Inn, will allow visitors to the town to stay in Colombia rather than having to leave town for accommodations. (Source: LNP) 

Three Lancaster County museums to have free admission for Charter Day: Three Lancaster County historic sites will open their doors for free on March 9 for Charter Day. The holiday celebrates the founding of Pennsylvania in 1681, through a charter signed by King Charles II towards William Penn. The museums include Ephrata Cloister, Pennsylvania Railroad Museum, and Landis Valley Village and Farm Museum. In Harrisburg, the Pennsylvania State Museum will also be open. (Source: LNP)
