- Shapiro’s budget proposal: Tuesday, Gov. Josh Shapiro delivered his budget proposal in an address to a joint session of the legislature. The $51.4 billion proposal would grow investments made in bipartisan budgets in previous years under Shapiro, including an additional $526 million to close the adequacy gap for the state’s poorest schools. - 2025 capital budget approved: Lancaster County commissioners have approved an $18 million budget for projects across the county, with $10 million slated for the new county prison. The balance of the capital fund is currently $11 million and is considered separate from the county’s general fund. - Lancaster’s redevelopment plan for blighted schoolhouse: A historic building on W. Walnut Street in Lancaster has been sitting vacant for years, and neighbors have been concerned about its decay. The City of Lancaster condemned the property in 2021 and declared it a blighted property. Now the Lancaster Redevelopment Authority wishes to seek concepts from developers to rehabilitate the property. The building was built as a schoolhouse in 1891 and most recently was home to the G.E. - Coyotes seen in Lancaster City: After a photo circulated of a coyote running through the streets of Lancaster City Tuesday, Conoy Township Supervisor and former Pennsylvania game commissioner Stephen L. Mohr explained that he sees coyotes on his property about three times a week.
