• Former President George W. Bush speaks in Lancaster: George W. Bush, the 43rd President of the United States, spoke Wednesday at the 2025 High Center Business Forum. The talk was held at the Lancaster County Convention Center in Lancaster City. The talk was only open to members of the High Center. He was said to have discussed lessons he learned while in office. Bush has visited Lancaster County the most times out of any president since Lancaster native James Buchanan, making five trips as President and continuing to visit afterwards. (Source: LNP) 

• Lancaster County school districts won’t have to stop DEI efforts, based on state guidance: The Pennsylvania Department of Education advised school districts in the state, including school districts in Lancaster County, to not sign the federal order demanding that they do not pursue diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) practices. The letter school districts were sent told them to certify that they were not violating section six of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which states that schools must not discriminate based on skin color or national origin. The state executive deputy secretary of education, Angela Fitterer, confirmed that the state not only prohibit discrimination against skin color or national origin but also gender, age or disability. She also highlighted that the letter did not define DEI and that there is not currently any state or federal laws banning it. (Source: LNP) 

• Security practices at governor’s mansion to be reviewed after arson: The Pennsylvania State Police have announced an independent review of security at the governor’s residence following a security breach which led to the residence being lit on fire. The review, according to them, will consist of a risk and vulnerability assessment of the grounds. They said additional details would be released in the coming days. 38-year-old Cody Balmer is charged with attempted murder, aggravated arson and terrorism for the attack, which did not result in any deaths or injuries. • Lancaster County commissioners approve medical director: Lancaster County commissioners Wednesday unanimously approved Dr. Michael Reihart as medical director, under a three-year contract. The contract with Reihart and his employer, Penn State Health Community Medical Group, will cost $25,000 per year. Reihart will oversee medical procedures relating to the county’s 911 system and monitor the system for effectiveness. He will also advise Lancaster County Public Training Center on training first responders. (Source: LNP)
