Lancaster residents have just a couple more days to weigh in on a pair of city surveys: One on community health, the other on the design of three city playgrounds.
Both are due to wrap up at the end of the week.
The Healthy Lives, Healthy Lancaster survey has been open since March; it was initially due to wrap up in June, but the city extended it to the end of August.
Available in five languages, it asks respondents about their physical and mental health and their access to fresh food, medical care, exercise opportunities, community support and other “social determinants of health.” It is the first such survey to focus solely on Lancaster city.
The city plans to release a report on the findings this fall, which it hopes will lead to programs to enhance residents’ health and reduce health disparities.
The city’s Department of Public Works, meanwhile, is asking residents for input on its plans for renovating three southside parks or play areas: The Joe Jackson Tot Lot at the corner of South Christian and Dauphin streets; South End Park in the 700 block of Beaver Street; and Ewell Gantz Park at the corner of South Christian and North streets.
Drafts of the designs for the three parks are available have been posted to the Engage Lancaster website, along with a link to the survey. It opened Aug. 2 and is bilingual, in English and Spanish.
