Effective April 24, the Lancaster City Bureau of Police is officially recognized as an accredited law enforcement agency by the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC). This recognition marks a milestone for the Bureau to continue its commitment to professional excellence, accountability and transparency.

The accreditation process is a voluntary program evaluating law enforcement agencies using established best practices and policing standards.

“Earning this distinction represents a standard of professionalism, accountability, and service that everyone at the Bureau strives to meet every day. Becoming an accredited agency confirms what I already knew: that we are an agency of integrity, driven by the values of public trust and continuous improvement,” said Richard Mendez, chief of Police.

Lancaster City Bureau of Police is holding a Council Accreditation Ceremony on Monday, May 13, during the Lancaster City Council meeting to commemorate their accreditation. All are welcome to attend the council meeting and celebrate the accreditation with the Bureau and City leadership.
