Interested in Pa.’s strategy for serving its older citizens? Offer your input at an upcoming listening session

The Lancaster County Office of Aging has set up half a dozen listening sessions for residents to learn about Pennsylvania’s upcoming Master Plan for Older Adults and offer their thoughts.

The sessions are part of a statewide outreach effort to encourage public input before state officials begin crafting the plan. When completed, it will provide a 10-year roadmap for improving the delivery of services to older Pennsylvanians and individuals with disabilities and helping them maintain independence and dignity as they age.

Among the topics being considered: Housing, transportation, social inclusion, outdoor spaces and buildings, health services and social services.

The listening sessions in Lancaster will be held over the next two weeks. Individuals planning to attend one of the sessions are asked to RSVP by calling the Lancaster County Office of Aging at (717) 299-7979.

Individuals can also email comments to the state Department of Aging at AgingPlan@pa.gov; or fill out an online needs assessment, which will remain open through the end of the month.
