Pennsylvanians have just two more days to shop on Pennie.com, the state’s health insurance marketplace, for coverage that begins Jan. 1.

Thursday, Dec. 15, is the first of two “open enrollment” deadlines on Pennie. After Thursday, eligible customers can still buy plans on Pennie until Jan. 15, but their coverage won’t begin until Feb. 1.

Pennie is set up for individuals and households who are not covered through their employer or a public program such as Medicare or Medicaid. Health plans on Pennie are subsidized through the Affordable Care Act, and 90% of customers are eligible for savings that average $530 per month.

Open enrollment began Nov. 1. Outside the open enrollment period, customers can only buy plans on Pennie if they experienced a “qualifying life event,” such as a change of job or marital status.

“Families, small business owners, near-retirees, gig workers, and anyone in need of a good plan to match their budget should check out their options through Pennie,” Executive Director Zachary Sherman said in a statement.

For more information, visit the Pennie website or call customer service at (844) 844-8040. Pennie’s call center hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. On Thursday, Pennie will offer extended customer service hours until 10 p.m.
