Colleges, universities and other postsecondary educational institutions in Pennsylvania have a little over three more weeks to submit applications for state grants to combat campus sexual assault.
Earlier this month, the Department of Education announced that more than $1 million is available through Pennsylvania’s “It’s On Us PA” program. The deadline to apply is Monday, Nov. 14.
Gov. Tom Wolf launched the initiative in 2016 as a counterpart to the Obama administration’s national It’s On Us campaign. Since then, 225 It’s On Us PA grants totaling nearly $6 million have been awarded to 84 colleges and universities. Millersville University was a recipient in 2021-22, receiving $29,990.

Funds may be used for a range of awareness, prevention, reporting and response initiatives.
In July, Gov. Wolf signed a bill into law requiring postsecondary schools to formally adopt a definition of consent. By the end of the year, they must have a memorandum of understanding in effect with at least one domestic violence program and one rape crisis center; and by next July, they must have a comprehensive sexual abuse prevention education program in place.
