The organizers of state Rep. Mike Sturla's 2021 Back-to-School event are seeking additional volunteers to help out, both with preparation beforehand and the event itself.
Volunteers are needed through Wednesday at Park City Center to help with sorting book donations. After that, help is needed every day beginning from Monday, Aug. 9, until the event ends the following Monday, Aug. 16.
Volunteers can review the full list of needs and sign up for shifts on the United Way of Lancaster County's "Get Connected" website.
The annual event provides School District of Lancaster student in kindergarten through grade 8 with backpacks, uniforms, shoes and other school supplies, materials that many would otherwise not be able to afford.
In recognition that coronavirus remains a concern, the 2021 event, like last year's, will be drive-through.
