An inmate who was found unresponsive in Lancaster County Prison last week has died, the county said in a statement Monday.
Paul William Reardon, 35, was found unresponsive shortly before noon Tuesday during "a routine check of his cell," the county said.
Prison staff called 911, performed CPR on Reardon and attempted to revive him with a defibrillator, the county said. Emergency personnel continued resuscitation efforts and he was taken to Lancaster General Hospital.
He was pronounced dead Saturday morning, the county said.
"As with any such incident," city police are investigating, the county said.
Reardon, of Ephrata, was charged with felony robbery and conspiracy in connection with an incident at Lowe's Home Improvement in East Hempfield Township. He and an alleged accomplice were arrested on Jan. 28, and he was detained in lieu of $250,000 bail, according to police and court records.
