Pennie announced Monday that it is reopening for a special Covid-19 enrollment period until May 15 in response to the Biden administration's announcement that federal marketplaces are reopening as well.

On Jan. 28, President Biden signed an executive order directing the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to create a special enrollment period for the nationwide healthcare marketplace due to the impact of the global Covid-19 pandemic.

President Biden's special enrollment period will also last until May 15.

The enrollment period is for any Pennsylvanian seeking healthcare coverage; whether they are brand-new to Pennie or are seeking to upgrade existing coverage.

Pennie is the state's version of the federal Affordable Care Act marketplace created under the Obama administration.
