Community Organizations Partner to Feed Lancaster County’s Most Vulnerable

United Way of Lancaster County is proud to be included in a partnership of nine area nonprofit organizations who came together last week at Clipper Stadium to assemble, package, and ultimately deliver 5,000 meals to 1,000 Lancaster County families.

Volunteers assembled the shelf-stable meals that were made up of many different products such as chicken noodle soup, canned turkey or pork, tuna, fruit cups, juice, granola bars, mixed nuts, raisins and more. Each box was packed with a can opener so the recipients may use the canned goods safely.

Participating organizations include: Meals on Wheels Lancaster, Lancaster County Office of Aging, United Way of Lancaster County, Mennonite Central Committee, Mennonite Disaster Service, American Red Cross, Central PA Food Bank, The Restaurant Store, and the First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster. And thank you to many volunteers who came out to help pack the boxes!
