If you're interested in joining the Fulton Theatre's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, you have until Friday to apply.

Announced this summer, the committee will be "a truly diverse group of community volunteers, activists, and artists" and will support "the undoing of systemic racism that has historically existed in the theatre and arts by amplifying and celebrating the voices and perspectives of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) in our arts community and beyond," the Fulton says.

Plans call for it to have 10 members and plans to meet quarterly.

Candidates are asked to fill out this online application by Friday, Nov. 13, and submit a letter of intent. The letter should highlight "why they are passionate to join," said Eric Pugh, the Fulton's director of marketing.

Stories of Diversity festival

One of the committee's first task will be reviewing submissions to the Fulton's Stories of Diversity Playwrighting Festival.

Writers are invited to submit original plays or musicals "celebrating perspectives from the spectrum of diversity." The Fulton is accepting submissions online through Jan. 4, 2021.

Four finalists will have their submissions workshopped at the Fulton, with public performances held as part of the festival, set for May 21-23, 2021.

The audience and a panel of judges will choose one winner; the author will receive a $500 prize and the work will be produced as part of the Fulton's Groff Studio Series.
