YWCA Lancaster is hosting a monthlong “Clothing & Comfort Drive” this month to support domestic violence victims during Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
The nonprofit is requesting donations of clothing — such as underwear, T-shirts, sweatshirts and sweatpants — as well as “comfort items,” such as small stuffed animals, coloring books and fidget toys.
Donations may be dropped off between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the reception desk at YWCA Lancaster, 110 N. Lime St., Lancaster.
The items will be provided to sexual assault survivors, whose clothing may be retained as evidence in the course of sexual assault forensic exams at local hospitals.
For more information, email Mandy Billman, director of the Sexual Assault Prevention & Counseling Center, at abillman@ywcalancaster.org.
The clothing drive is among several YWCA Lancaster initiatives raising awareness of sexual assault this month, including a special meeting of the organization’s adult survivor gathering at 7 p.m. this evening, April 1, at the nonprofit (a Zoom option is available); and a “breaking silence” open mic night at Read Rose Books on First Friday, April 5.
