VITA to offer off-season tax assistance on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Beginning next Tuesday, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, or VITA, will begin offering off-season tax services two days a week.

Assistance will be available by appointment between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at United Way of Lancaster County’s headquarters at 1910 Harrington Drive, Lancaster. VITA is a United Way initiative.

Available services include preparation of tax returns, amendment of returns, filing for 2022 rent rebates and auxiliary services such as picking up prepared returns or responding to letters from the Internal Revenue Service.

VITA has offered limited assistance outside tax season in previous years. Starting this year, it is expanding and regularizing that service, Director Kim Maldonado said.

To schedule an appointment, call United Way’s 211 referral service. Clients should bring all necessary documents to their appointments, including ID, Social Security card and all relevant tax forms and supporting documentation.
