Senior Centers, homelessness service providers extend hours again as heat soars past 90 degrees

(Source: CDC.gov)

With another heat wave under way, Lancaster County’s Senior Centers and homelessness service providers are again gearing up to offer respite to their clients.

The National Weather Service has declared an excessive heat warning through 8 p.m. Tuesday, predicting heat indexes in southcentral Pennsylvania of up to 103. Forecast highs are 96 degrees Monday and 98 degrees Tuesday. A heat index combines temperature and humidity to calculate apparent temperature.

An excessive heat advisory is in effect Wednesday, when highs in the low 90s are expected.
