(Update, Dec. 12: As of today, registration is full. Callers are now being added to a waiting list.)

Previously reported:

Families in need in Lancaster County can register by phone to receive a holiday meal through the annual Project for the Needy program.

Registration began last week and will continue through Dec. 13 or when 1,200 recipients have signed up, whichever comes first.

Registration is first come, first served. To register, call 211 or (717) 291-5462 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays. Online registration was available last week, but it has closed.

Participants receive a food box with ingredients for a complete family holiday meal. The boxes will be delivered between 8 a.m. and 12 noon on Saturday, Dec. 1.

They are dropped off at doorsteps, so recipients should make sure to be home at time of delivery.
