Police holding Hurricane Ian donation drive this weekend

The Lancaster County police union is organizing a donation drive to help first responders and victims in Florida working to recover from Hurricane Ian.

Fraternal Order of Police Red Rose Lodge 16 has set up a drive-through collection site at the former Sears Auto Center at Park City Center. Donations will be accepted there from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Volunteers will be on site to assist with donations.

Food and cleaning items are top priorities. Requested items include:

  • Bottled water
  • Canned or non-perishable foods
  • Coffee
  • Sugar
  • Non-dairy/powdered creamer
  • Juice
  • Gatorade/Powerade
  • Personal hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, toiletries, feminine hygiene products, toothpaste and toothbrushes
  • Pet food
  • Kitty litter
  • Batteries
  • Blankets
  • Clothing
  • Paper plates and cups
  • Trash bags
  • Large tarps
  • Plastic storage bins
  • Bug spray
  • Sunscreen
  • Diapers and baby wipes

The union is arranging the donation drive in coordination with Jag Trucks and other local businesses and organizations.
