MLK-themed ‘Conversation About OUR Community’ to look at local peacemaking

United Way of Lancaster County will host a “Conversation About OUR Community” next week to reflect on the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King.

Titled “Shifting the Cultural Climate Through Nonviolence and Peacemaking in Lancaster County, it will take place from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, Jan. 16 via Zoom. Attendance is free; to sign up, click here.

The event will open with a presentation from Chris Wenden, executive director at Advoz, an organization that provides conflict mediation, restorative practices, and education. It will be followed by a panel discussion adding in the following community leaders:

  • Isabel Castillo, Director, Center for Racial and Gender Equity, YWCA
  • David Miron, Lancaster Interfaith Coalition
  • Blanding Watson, President, NAACP Lancaster Branch

Willonda McCloud, President & CEO of Bright Side Opportunities Center, will moderate. The webinar will be recorded and available to all registrants.
