The Vaccinate Lancaster Community Vaccination Center at Park City Center mall is commemorating Saturday's Armed Forces Day holiday and inviting veterans and active members of the U.S. military to receive their Covid-19 vaccination.

Free coffee and raffle prizes will be available throughout the center's operating hours on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. In addition the center will host the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Mobile Vet Center, which offers direct counseling, outreach and care coordination to military veterans.

The mobile center complements U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' brick-and-mortar Vet Centers, including the Lancaster Vet Center at Suite 207, 1817 Olde Homestead Lane, in the Greenfield Corporate Center.

Armed Forces Day honors all those who serve in the six U.S. Military service branches – Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy and Space Force.

“This is our way to celebrate the men and women in our community who so bravely serve our nation. ... They protect us; this is our opportunity to protect them – and their families,” said Dr. Michael Ripchinski, site director for the center and chief clinical officer with Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, lead healthcare partner for the Vaccinate Lancaster Coalition.

About 50 members of the Pennsylvania National Guard have been volunteering at the center in clinical and nonclinical roles. As part of the day's events, the National Guard will hold an awards ceremony to recognize those who have served onsite and coalition partners.
