Established as a federal holiday in 1894, Labor Day recognizes the contribution of workers in all trades and industries to American life, and of organized labor in securing laborers' rights, including the 8-hour work day, the 5-day work week, minimum wages, equal pay for equal work, unemployment compensation and the abolishment of child labor.
One United Lancaster would like to wish our readers a safe, happy Labor Day weekend. Posting will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 7.
