Prime Anesthesia Associates joins Penn State Health to meet growing patient demands

Effective March 24, Prime Anesthesia Associates joined Penn State Health. Prime Anesthesia Associates is a Lancaster County anesthesia practice, physician-owned and operated, with three physicians and two certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs).

The merger of the two groups was in response to growing demands from patients for anesthesia care in Lancaster County as more surgical procedures transition to the outpatient services. Additionally, the health system hired more part-time and full-time CRNAs to support the anesthesia team.

“By hiring the excellent care team from Prime Anesthesia Associates and recruiting additional CRNAs to support that team, we are ensuring that our orthopedic surgeons continue to have superior anesthesia coverage at the Surgery Center of Lancaster,” said Dr. Safa Farzin, senior vice president of Penn State Health Medical Group.

Prime Anesthesia Associates providers also work with the Surgery Center of Lancaster, an ambulatory surgery center majority owned by Penn State Health, in East Hempfield Township.

“Our team is thrilled to be joining Penn State Health,” said Dr. Robert Garvin, a physician with Prime Anesthesia Associates. “The move will allow us to further strengthen our mission of providing the highest standard of anesthesia services while ensuring a seamless patient-centered experience.”
