YWCA Lancaster hires chief mission officer

YWCA Lancaster has hired Darrien Davenport as its chief mission officer, a newly created position, the organization announced.

As part of the nonprofit’s leadership team, he will work to advance YWCA Lancaster’s core objectives of eliminating racism and empowering women.

Among other things, he will develop partnerships with other community organizations and will provide oversight of the nonprofit’s Center for Racial & Gender Equality and its Sexual Assault Prevention & Counseling Center, according to a YWCA Lancaster job description.

While the position of chief mission officer is new to YWCA Lancaster, it is a role that has been implemented at YWCA’s elsewhere, CEO Stacie Blake said.

YWCA Lancaster is honored to welcome Davenport to its team, she said: “His extensive experience and unwavering dedication to the principles of equity and justice make him an invaluable addition to our organization.”

Davenport. who lives in Harrisburg, most recently served as a consultant at WittKieffer, an executive search and leadership advisory firm.

From 2016 to 2021 he served in various capacities at Gettysburg College, including interim chief diversity officer, assistant vice president of college life and executive director of multicultural engagement.
