YWCA Lancaster announces 2024 conference on childhood trauma

YWCA Lancaster’s Sexual Assault Prevention & Counseling Center will host a daylong conference early next year on trauma-informed services for children and youths.

The “Empowering Growth Childhood Trauma Care Conference” will take place Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square. It is designed for “anyone who supports children and youth in a professional capacity,” including educators, advocates, counselors and case managers, YWCA Lancaster said.

Topics will include LGBTQ+ youth mental health, sex trafficking, mandated reporting of abuse allegations and more. The keynote speaker will be Suzanne Estrella, a victims’ rights attorney who leads Pennsylvania’s Office of Victim Advocate.

The conference will offer up to five continuing education units to eligible professionals who attend.
