Six Lancaster County long-term care facilities share receive ‘quality investment’ grants

The former Conestoga View nursing home is now known as Lancaster Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Six long-term care facilities in Lancaster County are among more than 100 sites statewide receiving grants through a federally funded quality improvement program.

In all, 127 skilled nursing facilities, personal care homes, assisted living facilities and intermediate care facilities in 43 counties received $14.2 million in funding, the state Department of Health said this week.

The awards do not include Philadelphia County facilities, which are receiving funding separately through the Philadelphia health department.

The following Lancaster County sites received funding:

  • Garden Spot Village: $30,500
  • The Gardens at Stevens: $151,000
  • Lancashire Hall: $296,178
  • Lancaster Nursing & Rehabilitation Center: $300,000
  • Maple Farm: $50,163
  • United Zion Retirement Community: $20,500

Allocations were based on factors including the CDC’s Social Vulnerability Index, based on Zip code-level data; a facility’s number of Medicaid patient-days; and the number of residents supported by Supplemental Security Income.

The money is provided through the Long-Term Care Quality Investment Pilot program. It can be used for infection prevention, emergency preparedness, workforce development and staff retention, among other things.

“All of that leads to better care for residents,” acting state Secretary of Health Dr. Debra Bogen said in a statement.
