Anchor Lancaster has announced that it has received enough ketchup to meet the organizations needs for the remainder of the year.
Anchor Lancaster is a nonprofit low barrier shelter in Lancaster that provides people struggling with homelessness with free meals, showers, and case management support. The condiment donation comes the organizations Spread the Love campaign.
According to Aftan Hoffer, director of communications at Anchor Lancaster, the organization receives most of its groceries from the Central PA Food Bank for its breakfast program. Ketchup is one of the items that is hard to come by. The shelter goes through 400 bottles a year, and the donations received in February are enough to cover the breakfast program for an entire year.
“Each bottle donated is more than just a condiment, it is a symbol of the care and generosity that define our community….We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed, whether by donating a single bottle or by helping to spread the word about our campaign.”
The kitchen manager, Stan Shenk, and guest are thankful to those who made the effort possible. Anchor Lancaster remains committed to providing essential resources to those facing homelessness or hardship in Lancaster City.
