The 500 block of North Duke Street will be blocked to traffic over the weekend to allow a large crane to operate at the Lancaster General Hospital emergency department expansion project.
The closure will begin at 5 p.m. Friday and continue through Sunday evening, Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health said in a statement.
Traffic will be detoured onto McGovern Street to North Prince Street. Vehicles will be able to return to North Duke Street via Chestnut Street.
The 500-ton crane will be moving mechanical equipment to and from the roof of the new emergency department wing.
The 40,000 square foot expansion will give LGH the capacity to serve 140,000 patients a year. LG Health pegs the cost at a little over $180 million.
