• National protest against Trump presidency includes demonstration in Harrisburg: A march including 300 people at the Pennsylvania State Capitol took place Monday. The protest was carried out by 50501, an organization whose name means “50 states, 50 capitals, one protest.” Monday’s march began on City Island and moved to the Capitol steps. (Source: LNP)

• Strasburg residents push to stop housing development on farmland: Developer EGStoltzfus is hoping to convert a piece of farmland in Strasburg into a housing development. However, local residents oppose the plan, which would include demolishing a historic farmhouse on the property. Opponents say that the reason they enjoy living in the neighborhood is the quaint farmland and dislike the traffic that the new development would bring. (Source: WGAL) 

• Pennsylvania reports 100,000+ new bird flu cases: Bird flu has affected multiple flocks in Central Pennsylvania, according to The Centers for Disease Control. Bird flu was found in a commercial broiler flock of approximately 80,000 birds in Lancaster County. Another outbreak was confirmed at a commercial duck meat facility in Cumberland County, impacting around 20,000 birds. (Source: ABC 27)

• West Art pauses shows for renovations: West Art, a multipurpose venue in Lancaster city announced in a social media post Friday that Lancaster city has asked organizers to stop hosting events until renovations for the venue’s upcoming café project have completed. One of the owners Josh Gibbel explained on a phone call to LNP that pause will be temporary and hopefully short.
