• Outgoing Franklin & Marshall College president to cut staff: Barbara Altmann, the current president of Franklin & Marshall College, will be laying off a number of staff members in April. F&M spokesperson Pete Durantine said the college has been experiencing a reduced student body over the past two years which has led them to decreasing the number of faculty positions. The college also plans to try to increase enrollment by employing more effective recruitment strategies and encouraging more transfer students to enroll. • South Central Transit Authority pulls back plans for Red Rose Access depot: The South Central Transit Authority, which operates Lancaster’s public transportation system, will scale back plans for a depot of its shared ride service in Lancaster County. The Red Rose Access service covers Lancaster County with a federally required shuttle service for the elderly and people with disabilities. The plans for the depot were rejected by Lancaster County Metropolitan Planning Organization board for being too expensive. However, Metropolitan Planning has stated that they will listen to the South Central Transit Authority for more scaled-back, multi-phase plans, and supports them using a property it owns in East Hempfield Township. • Lancaster Stormers rename stadium: The Lancaster Stormers, the city’s baseball team, has announced they will be renaming the its stadium, Clipper Magazine, to Penn Medicine Park. The renaming comes after a multi-year partnership between the Stormers and the Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health hospital. The stadium will be offering health-focused events as part of the partnership, such as creating healthier food offerings and having health screenings at the park. (Source: WGAL)
