Queen St. the building houses four medical practices and will include a primary care practice. The lot was planned to include an apartment building, retail stores, and parking garage, but development was paused due to economic difficulties. • School District of Lancaster opposes AI-driven Charter School: The School District of Lancaster is recommending the board votes against, Valenta Academy Charter School, which plans to use artificial intelligence rather than teachers. The charter school has faced rejection from the Department of Education for a similar AI based charter school. The School Board will vote in March. (Source: LNP)
• Trump halts humanitarian program leading to uncertainty for Ukrainians in Lancaster County: Thousands of Ukrainians in Pennsylvania face an uncertain future after the Trump administration halted a humanitarian program to help people affected by the 2022 Russian invasion. Vitalii and Yana, fled the Ukraine and resettled in Lancaster in January, 2023. They are two of the 117,000 Ukrainians who came to the U.S. through the Uniting for Ukraine program. The program, created by the Biden administration after Russia invaded, allows American families to sponsor Ukrainians as they get situated in the U.S. In October, the family applied for a two-year extension to their status, but the applications were not processed by the time Trump took office, and the Trump administration has since paused the program. • Elizabethtown College adds new medical laboratory science program: Next Semester, this fall, students will have the option to major in Medical Laboratory Science. The program features two paths: a traditional four-year degree or spending three years at E-town and one receiving clinical training in a medical lab.
