• Franklin and Marshall new president: The 17th president of Franklin & Marshall College, Andrew “Andy” Rich, has officially been appointed. The F&M Board of Trustees unanimously appointed Rich, who previously served as the dean of the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership at the City College of New York (CCNY). • Inclusive Super Bowl Experience made happen by Pennsylvania based foundation: The XEL foundation, helped create a a sensory activation vehicle that offers a mobile sensory space for anyone that needs a quiet and private area. This is the third consecutive year the foundation has helped create a sensory inclusive environment for the Super Bowl experience. The organization also provided people with kits that included headphones, strobe glasses and even a card that helps people who have difficulty communicating to articulate emotion or their needs. • VA and PA Turnpike work together to improve healthcare for veterans: The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has teamed up with the PA Turnpike to offer health care resource to veterans living in rural areas. PA Turnpike distributed flyers across the entire turnpike road system, detailing information about Veterans’ telehealth options, the Veterans Crisis Line and the closest VA location. The organization chose to expand the initiative to Pa. because of the states size and rural areas, collaborating to provide information at the 17 service areas along the Pennsylvania Turnpike. • Historic house, once county’s first courthouse, up for auction: Lancaster County was formed out of Chester County in 1729. The first courthouse Postlethwaite’s Tavern, was gunning to be the new county seat. While Conestoga and Wright’s Ferry were along the Susquehanna River and were better at the time for trading, Lancaster was chosen due to its central location. Today, the former tavern and courthouse is a two-story farmhouse sitting on a property of over 100 acres. The property will be sold in two parcels. (Source: LNP)
