Lancaster city is accepting applications for a newly established position of Poet Laureate.
Applicants will be evaluated by a search committee. It says is seeking an individual to serve “as a beacon and model for the power of poetry to Lancastrians of all ages.”
It is particularly interested in those whose voices have not been heard in the past, and who can “offer different perspectives and create new ways for people to connect.”
The appointment is for one year and comes with a $2,500 honorarium, paid in three installments: $500 initially, $1,000 mid-term and the final $1,000 at the end of the 12-month period.
The winning candidate will be announced in April.
