Senior centers extend hours again due to intense heat

The National Weather Service has issued a dangerous-heat advisory in central Pennsylvania for today, Tuesday, July 6.

Accordingly, the Lancaster County Office of Aging is extending hours of operation at county Senior Community Centers today and Wednesday. Hours will be as follows:

Columbia Senior Center, Columbia United Methodist Church, 510 Walnut St.,
Columbia, 7:30 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. (Ph: 717-684-4850)

Elizabethtown Area Senior Center, 70 South Poplar St., Elizabethtown
8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (Ph: 717-367-7984)

Lancaster Rec Senior Center, 525 Fairview Ave., Lancaster
8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Ph: 717-399-7671)

Lititz Senior Center, Lititz United Methodist Church, 201 E. Market St.,
Lititz, (Monday- Wednesday -Thursday) 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (Ph: 717-626-2800)

SACA Senior Center, 545 Pershing Ave., Lancaster
8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Ph: 717-295-7989)

Next Gen Senior Center, 184 S. Lime St., Quarryville

The extended hours are the same as those offered during last week's heat wave. Highs are expected to be in the mid- to upper 90s today and Wednesday, then drop into the upper 80s Thursday as a storm system brings rain into the region.
