VITA begins scheduling free tax prep appointments

United Way of Lancaster County began scheduling appointments this week for VITA, its free tax preparation service.

VITA, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, offers tax services to Lancaster County residents who make $70,000 or less per year.

To schedule an appointment, click here or call 211. Appointments are available at 13 locations countywide. Dates begin in early February and vary by location.

  • Hempfield United Methodist Church: 3050 Marietta Ave., Lancaster

  • Salem United Church of Christ: 324 Walnut St., Columbia (rear: Education Building)

During last year’s tax season, VITA prepared 8,881 tax returns, saving Lancaster County residents $2.4 million in preparation fees and securing nearly $9 million in refunds.
