The African American Cultural Alliance's 11th annual parade brought a blaze of color and a joyful noise to the streets of southeast Lancaster on Saturday.
Kicking off at 3 p.m., the it wound its way eastward from King Elementary School to the corner of Juniata Street, turning north on South Ann Street and east on East End Avenue to finish at Reservoir Park, site of the alliance's annual fair.
More than two dozen organizations took part, including drill teams from around the region, church and community groups and the Silverback Riders Motorcycle Club. There were prizes for the best bands and drill teams: The alliance announced that the winners were, in order, the Baltimore Go-Getters, Epic Attraction and the Baltimore All Stars.
The parade is the only annual event of its kind in Lancaster. Local Black educational leaders served as its grand marshals, reflecting the fair's 2024 theme, "Knowledge Is Power."
